The Write to Read Project (W2R) is a partnership between BC Government House Foundation and Rotary International, along with several corporate sponsors. The project matches remote First Nation communities with participating Rotary clubs in a collaboration to build community libraries, complete with book collections and other reading material. The W2R mission was recently expanded to include digital learning through access to online collections and online education services.
Pathways to Technology and W2R will work together to coordinate broadband Internet connections for new community library projects. This will bring literacy opportunities to more First Nations, sooner.
To date W2R has opened 11 libraries throughout the province, with 13 additional BC First Nations expressing interest in participating. writetoreadproject.org
